What Is a Recovery Home?

Our recovery home offers an opportunity for you to live with peers in recovery while you attend addiction treatment. You'll have support from staff and house managers, many of whom are in recovery themselves. Housemates and peers who are going through the same struggles as you can provide a critical source of support as you begin your recovery journey. Our recovery home creates an environment of understanding and camaraderie where everyone is striving toward a better future.

A Supportive Place to Focus on Your Recovery

Our experienced team of on-site staff supports you by providing structure, compassion, and accountability throughout your treatment process and fostering the strength, perseverance, and life skills needed for long-term recovery. For example, you’ll be allotted an allowance for weekly grocery trips, so you can practice budgeting and meal planning. We provide transportation to appointments, errands, outings, and recovery groups like 12-step meetings. We also provide medication management, ensuring you have access to any prescribed medications you need. Our house managers and staff are always available to help you work through the questions and obstacles that come naturally in recovery.

Supportive Place

Our recovery home in the Greater Chicago Area is overseen by house managers and has rules to help the recovery process. These include things like:

  • No drugs or alcohol on the premises
  • No overnight guests
  • A point system for day and evening passes outside the recovery home

You’ll also be expected to contribute to the house, just like you would in your own home. That may mean participating in things like cooking, chores, and household activities.

We have activities or support groups every night and attend AA, NA, SMART Recovery, or Refuge Recovery meetings. To help the community come together and show that sobriety can be fun, we plan weekend activities and have onsite fun as well with BBQs, game nights, and more.

A Comfortable Place to Focus on Your Recovery

Learning to live in sobriety is challenging. Having a safe, comfortable place to live allows you to focus on what matters most: your recovery and the skill-building you need for long-term recovery. That’s why we provide an environment that teaches relapse-prevention tools and offers peer and staff support.

Our recovery home is spacious, with plenty of room inside and out to interact with others or have time to yourself. There’s Wi-Fi throughout, flat-screen TVs, and cable. Our apartments come with fully equipped kitchens, comfortable living rooms, double-occupancy bedrooms separated by gender, and patios. Common areas include a day room with TV, games and a ping-pong table, an auditorium, and a state-of-the-art gym. Outside offers opportunities to connect with others over a firepit, grill, or equipment for volleyball and basketball.

There’s a lot more to our recovery homes. Learn what to expect and see our residences here.
